When“rocking”astuckvehiclebymovingbetween
“First”andR(Reverse),donotspinthewheelsfaster
than 15 mph (24 km/h), or drivetrain damage may
result.
Theleastamountofacceleratorpedalpressuretomain-
taintherockingmotionwithoutspinningthewheelsor
racingtheengineismosteffective.Racingtheengineor
spinningthewheels,duetothefrustrationofnotfreeing
the vehicle, may lead to transmission overheating and
failure. Allow the engine to idle with the transmission
selectorinN(Neutral)foratleastoneminuteafterevery
fiverocking-motioncycles.Thiswillminimizeoverheat-
ing and reduce the risk of transmission failure during
prolongedeffortstofreeastuckvehicle.

transfercasedividesenginetorquealmostevenlywith48
percentofenginetorquetothefrontaxleand52percent
