have an authorized technician inspect the complete ex-
haustsystemandadjacentbodyareasforbroken,dam-
aged, deteriorated, or mispositioned parts. Open seams
orlooseconnectionscouldpermitexhaustfumestoseep
intothepassengercompartment.Inaddition,inspectthe
exhaustsystemeachtimethevehicleisraisedforlubri-
cationoroilchange.Replaceasrequired.
EngineCoolantChecks
Check antifreeze/coolant protection every 12 months
(beforetheonsetoffreezingweather,whereapplicable).
Ifantifreeze/coolantisdirtyorrustyinappearance,the
systemshouldbedrained,flushedandrefilledwithfresh
antifreeze/coolant.CheckthefrontoftheA/Ccondenser
foranyaccumulationofbugs,leaves,etc.Ifdirty,cleanby
gently spraying water from a garden hose vertically
downthefaceofthecondenser.
CoolingSystem
Checktheenginecoolingsystemhosesforbrittlerubber,
cracking, tears, cuts, and tightness of the connection at
the coolant recovery bottle and radiator. Inspect the
entiresystemforleaks.
WARNING!
Youorotherscanbebadlyburnedbyhotantifreeze/
coolant or steam from your radiator. If you see or
hearsteamcomingfromunderthehood,don’topen
the hood until the radiator has had time to cool.
Never try to open a cooling system pressure cap
whentheradiatororcoolantbottleishot.

With the engine at normal operating temperature (but
notrunning),checkthecoolingsystempressurecapfor
proper vacuum sealing by draining a small amount of
coolantfromtheradiatordraincock.Ifthecapissealing
properly,theantifreeze/coolantwillbegintodrainfrom
