AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OPERATION (IF  EQUIPPED)
Brake-shift interlock
Thisvehicleisequippedwithabrake-shiftinterlockfeaturethatprevents
thegearshiftleverfrombeingmovedfromP(Park)whentheignitionis
intheRUNpositionunlessbrakepedalisdepressed.
IfyoucannotmovethegearshiftleveroutofP(Park)withignitionin
theRUNpositionandthebrakepedaldepressed,itispossiblethata
fusehasblownorthevehicle’sbrakelampsarenotoperatingproperly.
RefertoFusesandrelaysintheRoadsideEmergencieschapter.
Ifthefuseisnotblown,performthefollowingprocedure:
1.Applytheparkingbrake,turntheignitiontoLOCK,thenremovethe
key.

Usingascrewdriverorsimilar
tool,carefullypryoutthesmall,
round,tetheredBrakeTransmission
ShiftInterlock(BTSI)covercap
locatedtotherightofthegearshift
lever.

toolstraightdownintotheaccess
holeandpressdownwardwhile
pullingthegearshiftleveroutofthe
P(Park)positionandintotheN
(Neutral)position.

RemovetoolandreinstallBTSItetheredcovercap.
