Followtheseguidelinesifyouhaveaneedforrecreational(RV)towing.
Anexampleofrecreationaltowingwouldbetowingyourvehiclebehind
amotorhome.Theseguidelinesaredesignedtoensurethatyour
transmissionisnotdamaged.
Note:Putyourclimatecontrolsysteminrecirculatedairmodeto
preventexhaustfumesfromenteringthevehicle.RefertotheClimate
controlschapterformoreinformation.
FrontWheelDrive(FWD)vehicleswithmanualtransmissions:If
yourvehicleisequippedwithamanualtransmission,shiftingthe
transmissionintoneutral(N)permits“flat-towing”(allwheelsonthe
ground)forpullingbehindamotorhome.
Beforeyoutowyourvehicle:

Releasetheparkingbrake.
Movethegearshifttotheneutralposition.
Turnthekeyintheignitiontotheoffposition.
Themaximumrecommendedspeedis70mph(113km/h).
Themaximumrecommendeddistanceisunlimited.
Thevehiclemustbetowedintheforwardpositiontoensureno
damageisdonetotheinternaltransmissioncomponents.
Inaddition,itisrecommendedthatyoufollowtheinstructionsprovided
bytheaftermarketmanufacturerofthetowingequipment,ifprovided.
Incaseofaroadsideemergencywithadisabledvehicle,seeWrecker
towingintheRoadsideEmergencieschapter.
FrontWheelDrive(FWD)vehicleswithautomatictransmissions:
Donottowthevehiclewiththefrontdrivewheelsontheground.Itis
recommendedtotowyourvehiclewiththefrontdrivewheelsonadolly
orwithallfour(4)wheelsoffthegroundonacar-haulingtrailer.
