AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OPERATION (IF  EQUIPPED)
Brake-shift interlock
Thisvehicleisequippedwithabrake-shiftinterlockfeaturethatprevents
thegearshiftleverfrombeingmovedfromP(Park)whentheignitionis
intheonpositionunlessthebrakepedalisdepressed.
IfyoucannotmovethegearshiftleveroutofP(Park)withignitionin
theonpositionandthebrakepedaldepressed:

anddepresstheoverride;whilethe
overrideisdepressed,movethe
shiftlevertoneutral.
Applytheparkingbrake,turnignitionkeytooff,thenremovethekey.
Insertatoolintotheaccesshole

Startthevehicle.
Ifitisnecessarytousetheabove
proceduretomovethegearshift
lever,itispossiblethatafusehas
blownorthevehicle’sbrakelamps
arenotoperatingproperly.Referto
FusesandrelaysintheRoadside
Emergencieschapter.
WARNING:Donotdriveyourvehicleuntilyouverifythatthe
brakelampsareworking.
WARNING:Alwayssettheparkingbrakefullyandmakesure
thegearshiftislatchedinP(Park).Turntheignitiontotheoff
positionandremovethekeywheneveryouleaveyourvehicle.
WARNING:Iftheparkingbrakeisfullyreleased,butthebrake
warninglampremainsilluminated,thebrakesmaynotbe
workingproperly.Seeyourauthorizeddealer.
