TheTractionControlSystem(TCS)
enhancestractionandsafetyby
controllingenginetorqueandbraking.
WhentheTCSdetectsdrivingwheel
slippage,itlowersenginetorqueand
operatesthebrakestopreventlossof
traction.
Thisindicatorlightstaysonforafew
secondswhentheignitionisswitched
ON.IftheTCSorDSCisoperating,the
indicatorlightflashes.
Thismeansthatonaslicksurface,the
engineadjustsautomaticallytoprovide
optimumpowertothedrivewheels
withoutcausingthemtospinandlose
traction.
Ifthelightstayson,theTCSorDSCmay
haveamalfunctionandtheymaynot
operatecorrectly.Takeyourvehicletoan
AuthorizedMazdaDealer.

Donotrelyonthetractioncontrol
systemasasubstituteforsafedriving:
Thetractioncontrolsystem(TCS)
cannotcompensateforunsafeand
recklessdriving,excessivespeed,
tailgating(followinganothervehicle
tooclosely),andhydroplaning
(reducedtirefrictionandroad
contactbecauseofwaterontheroad
surface).Youcanstillhavean
accident.
Inadditiontotheindicatorlightflashing,a
l
slightluggingsoundwillcomefromthe
engine.ThisindicatesthattheTCSis
operatingproperly.
Onslipperysurfaces,suchasfreshsnow,it
willbeimpossibletoachievehighrpm
whentheTCSison.

Usesnowtiresortirechainsanddrive
atreducedspeedswhenroadsare
coveredwithiceand/orsnow:
Drivingwithoutpropertraction
devicesonsnowand/orice-covered
roadsisdangerous.Thetraction
controlsystem(TCS)alonecannot
provideadequatetractionandyou
couldstillhaveanaccident.
