Thesideairbagsaremountedintheoutboardsidesofthefrontseatbacks.
Whentheairbagcrashsensorsdetectasideimpactofgreaterthanmoderateforce,the
systeminflatesthesideairbagonlyonthesideinwhichthevehiclewashit.Thesideair
baginflatesquicklytoreduceinjurytothedriverorfrontpassenger'schestcausedby
directlyhittinginteriorpartssuchasadoororwindow.Inaddition,thefrontpassengerside
airbagisdesignedtoonlydeployinaccordancewiththetotalseatedweightonthefront
