CheckingorChangingEngineOil:
Hotengineoilisdangerous.Ifthe
enginehasbeenrunning,theengine
oilbecomesveryhot.Youcouldbe
seriouslyburned.Don'tcheckor
changetheengineoilwhentheengine
ishot.
NOTE
Theindicatedengineoilcapacities

areforgeneralreferencepurposes
only.Whenaddingorchangingoil,
verifytheengineoillevelwiththe
oildipstick.

Warmuptheengineforafewminutes
andturnitoff.Removetheoil-filler
cap.
Useonlyspecifiedengineoil(page

10-4).

Removethedrainpluganddrainthe
oilintoasuitablecontainer.
Changingoilfilter
Becauseyouneedaspecialtoolto
retightenthefilter,anAuthorizedMazda
Dealershoulddothework.
Replacethedrainplugwasherafterthe
oilhasthoroughlydrained.

Reinstalltheplugtightly.
Filltheenginewithnewoiltothe
MAXmarkonthedipstick.

Securelyreinstalltheoil-fillercap.
Loosen
Tighten
Forward
Drain plug

Starttheengineandinspectaroundthe
drainplugforleaks.
Turnitoffandwait5minutesforthe
oiltoreturntotheoilpan.
