illuminationaftertheengineisstartedindicatestheOnBoard
DiagnosticsSystem(OBD-II)hasdetectedamalfunction.RefertoOn
boarddiagnostics(OBD-II)intheMaintenanceandSpecifications
chapter.Ifthelightisblinking,enginemisfireisoccurringwhichcould
damageyourcatalyticconverter.Driveinamoderatefashion(avoid
heavyaccelerationanddeceleration)andhaveyourvehicleserviced
immediatelybyyourauthorizeddealer.
Underenginemisfireconditions,excessiveexhausttemperatures
coulddamagethecatalyticconverter,thefuelsystem,interior
floorcoveringsorothervehiclecomponents,possiblycausingafire.
Checkfuelcap:Illuminateswhen
thefuelcapmaynotbeproperly
installed.Continueddrivingwith
thislightonmaycausetheCheck
enginewarninglighttocomeon,
refertoFuelfillercapinthe
MaintenanceandSpecificationchapter.
Brakesystemwarninglight:To
confirmthebrakesystemwarning
lightisfunctional,itwill
momentarilyilluminatewhenthe
ignitionisturnedtotheONposition

orbyapplyingtheparkingbrakewhentheignitionisturnedtotheON
position.Ifthebrakesystemwarninglightdoesnotilluminateatthis
time,seekserviceimmediatelyfromyourauthorizeddealer.Illumination
afterreleasingtheparkingbrakeindicateslowbrakefluidlevelora
brakesystemmalfunctionandthebrakesystemshouldbeinspected
immediatelybyyourauthorizeddealer.
Drivingavehiclewiththebrakesystemwarninglightonis
dangerous.Asignificantdecreaseinbrakingperformancemay
occur.Itwilltakeyoulongertostopthevehicle.Havethevehicle
checkedbyyourauthorizeddealer.
