Servicedatarecordersinyourvehiclearecapableofcollectingand
storingdiagnosticinformationaboutyourvehicle.Thispotentially
includesinformationabouttheperformanceorstatusofvarioussystems
andmodulesinthevehicle,suchasengine,throttle,steeringorbrake
systems.Inordertoproperlydiagnoseandserviceyourvehicle,Ford
MotorCompany,FordofCanada,andserviceandrepairfacilitiesmay
accessvehiclediagnosticinformationthroughadirectconnectiontoyour
vehiclewhendiagnosingorservicingyourvehicle.
EventDataRecording
Othermodulesinyourvehicle—eventdatarecorders—arecapableof
collectingandstoringdataduringacrashornearcrashevent.The
recordedinformationmayassistintheinvestigationofsuchanevent.
Themodulesmayrecordinformationaboutboththevehicleandthe
occupants,potentiallyincludinginformationsuchas:

whetherornotthedriverandpassengerseatbeltswerebuckled;
howfar(ifatall)thedriverwasdepressingtheacceleratorand/orthe

Toaccessthisinformation,specialequipmentmustbedirectlyconnected
totherecordingmodules.FordMotorCompanyandFordofCanadado
notaccesseventdatarecorderinformationwithoutobtainingconsent,
unlesspursuanttocourtorderorwhererequiredbylawenforcement,
othergovernmentauthoritiesorotherthirdpartiesactingwithlawful
authority.Otherpartiesmayseektoaccesstheinformation
independentlyofFordMotorCompanyandFordofCanada.
