ESP (Electronic Stability Program) cannot prevent
the natural laws of physics from acting on the
vehicle, nor can it increase the traction afforded by
prevailingroadconditions.ESPcannotpreventacci-
dents, including those  resulting from excessive
speedinturns,drivingonveryslipperysurfaces,or
hydroplaning. Only a safe, attentive, and skillful
driver can prevent accidents. The capabilities of an
ESP-equippedvehiclemustneverbeexploitedina
reckless or dangerous manner which could jeopar-
dizetheuser’ssafetyorthesafetyofothers.

ThisisthenormaloperatingmodeforESPin2WD,4WD
PartTime,4WDFullTime(Selec-TracOnly),andon2WD
vehicles.Wheneverthevehicleisstartedorthetransfer
case (if equipped) is shifted from 4WD low range or
neutralbackto4WDhighrangeor2WD,theESPsystem
willbeinthismode.Thismodeshouldbeusedformost
alldrivingsituations.ESPshouldonlybeturnedofffor
specificreasonsasnotedbelow.
TheESPsystemhas2availableoperatingmodesin2WD,
4WDPartTime,4WDFullTime(Selec-TracOnly),andon
2WDvehicles.Thesystemhasasingleoperatingmodein
4WDLowRange.
