Theclutchhydraulicsystemisasealedmaintenancefree
system.Intheeventofleakageorothermalfunction,the
systemmustbereplaced.
FrequencyofFluidChange
Undernormaloperatingconditions,thefluidinstalledat
thefactorywillgivesatisfactorylubricationforthelifeof
the vehicle. Fluid changes are not necessary unless the
lubricant has become contaminated with water. If con-
taminated with water, the fluid should be changed im-
mediately.
ManualTransmission
SelectionofLubricant
Use only manufacturer’s recommended manual trans-
mission fluid, refer to Fluids, Lubricants, and Genuine
Partsforcorrectfluidtype.
TransferCase
FluidLevelCheck
Inspectthetransfercaseforfluidleaks.Ifafluidleakis
evident, the transfer case fluid level can be checked by
removing the fill plug (B) located at the back of the
transfercase.
FluidLevelCheck
Checkthefluidlevelbyremovingthefillplug.Thefluid
levelshouldbebetweenthebottomofthefillholeanda
pointnotmorethan3/16”(4.76mm)belowthebottomof
thehole.
The fluid level should be to the bottom edge of the fill
hole(A)whenthevehicleisinalevelposition.
Addfluid,ifnecessary,tomaintaintheproperlevel.
