o Automotive fuels are flammable/
explosivematerials.Whenrefuel-
ing, please note the following
guidelinescarefully.
o Beforetouchingthefuelnozzleor
fuelfillercap,haveone'shandsin
contactwithmetalpartsawayfrom
the filler neck to discharge static
electricity.
o Do not get back in the vehicle
whilst refueling. Do not operate
anything that can produce static
electricity. Static electricity dis-
charge can ignite fuel vapors re-
sulting in explosion.
o When using a portable fuel con-
tainer be sure to place the con-
taineronthegroundwhilstrefuel-
ing. Static electricity discharge
from the container can ignite fuel
vaporscausingafire.Whilststart-
ing refueling contact should be
maintaineduntilthefillingiscom-
plete.
o Donotusecellularphonesaround
agasstation.Theelectriccurrent
or electronic interference from
cellular phones can ignite fuel
vapors causing a fire.
o When refueling always shut the
engine off. Sparks by electrical
equipment of the engine can ig-
nite fuel vapors causing a fire.
Afterrefueling,checktomakesure
thefuelfillercapissecurelyclosed,
and then start the engine.

The hatchback door should always
bekeptcompletelyclosedwhilstthe
vehicle is in motion. If it is left open
or ajar, poisonous exhaust gases
may enter the car resulting in seri-
ous illness or death to the occu-
