Thefollowingsuggestionsaremadeto
assistinachievingthegreatestdegree
of fuel economy.
CHARGER
(DIESEL ENGINE)
o Use the air conditioning only when
necessary.

Do not race the engine or suddenly
accelerate the engine immediately
after starting it. If the engine is cold,
allow the engine to idle for several
secondsbeforeitisdriventoensure
sufficient lubrication of the turbo
chargerunit.
o Maintainingaconstantcheckonfuel
consumption will enable the most
economical use pattern and driving
style to be adopted.
o Avoidusingthevehicleforveryshort
journeysifpossible,particularlywhen
a cold start is involved.

After high speed or extended driv-
ing, requiring a heavy engine load,
theengineshouldbeallowedtoidle
about 1 minute before turning it off.
This idle time will allow the turbo
charger to cool prior to shutting the
engine off.
o Ensurethattyrepressuresaremain-
tained at the correct level.
o Useonlytherecommendedgradeof
fuel.
o Avoidcarryingunnecessaryweight,
and if a roof rack is in use, remove it
as soon as possible after use.
o Anticipate the road and conditions
aheadtoenableadjustmentsinspeed
to be made smoothly. Avoid heavy
accelerationandsharpbraking.
o Avoid cruising at unnecessary high
speeds.

Do not turn the engine off immedi-
atelyafterithasbeensubjectedtoa
heavy load. Doing so may cause
severedamagetotheengineorturbo
chargerunit.
