STARTINGANDOPERATING
BRAKE/TRANSAXLEINTERLOCK
• thenInsertpushakey,andscrewdriver,holdthemanualorfingeroverrideintothereleasefrontleverhole
forward.
Thissystempreventsyoufrommovingthegearselector
lever out of PARK and into any gear unless the brake
pedal is pressed. This system is active only while the
ignitionswitchisintheONposition.Alwayspressthe
brakepedalfirst,beforemovingthegearselectorlever
outofPARK.

While holding the release lever forward, move the
gearselectorleverfromPARKtoNEUTRAL.Release
themanualoverridelever.
NOTE: Ifthisoccurs,eveniftheoverrideissuccessful,
itisrecommendedthatyouvisitadealeratyourearliest
possibleconvenience.Yourdealerhasdiagnosticequip-
menttodetermineiftheproblemcouldrecur.
NOTE: If a malfunction occurs, the transaxle will not
shiftoutofPARK.Batterypowerisrequiredtoreleasethe
brake/transaxle interlock system. However, there is an
overridesystemthatallowsyoutoshiftoutofPARKin
caseoflossofpower.Toactivatetheoverridesystem:
AUTOMATICTRANSAXLEIGNITIONINTERLOCK
SYSTEM
Thissystempreventsthekeyfrombeingremovedunless
thegearselectorleverisinPARK.Italsopreventsshifting
outofPARKunlessthekeyisintheONpositionandthe
brakepedalisapplied.

Removethecupholderliner
