Many,butnotallrestraintsystemswillbeequippedwith
separatestrapsoneachside,witheachhavingahookor
connector for attachment to the lower anchorage and a
means of adjusting the tension in the strap. Forward- 2
facing toddler restraints and some rear-facing infant
restraints will also be equipped with a tether strap, a
hookforattachmenttothetetherstrapanchorageanda
meansofadjustingthetensionofthestrap.
First,loosentheadjustersonthelowerstrapsandonthe
tetherstrapsothatyoucanmoreeasilyattachthehooks
orconnectorstothevehicleanchorages.Next,attachthe
lowerhooksorconnectorsoverthetopoftheanchorage
bars,pushingasidetheseatcovermaterial.Then,locate
thetetheranchoragedirectlybehindtheseatwhereyou
areplacingthechildrestraintandattachthetetherstrap
totheanchorage,beingcarefultoroutethetetherstrapto
providethemostdirectpathbetweentheanchorandthe
child restraint. There are three top tether anchorages
locatedonthebackoftheseat,behindthegappanel.

Do not use the cargo tie downs located on the load
floor. Improper usage of the tether can lead to a
failureofaninfantorchildrestraint.Thechildcould
bebadlyinjuredorkilled.
