enhancetheprotectionprovided
occupantsinsideimpactcollisions.
TheairbagSRSisdesignedto
activatewhenthevehiclesustains
sufficientlateraldecelerationto
causethesensorstoclosean
electricalcircuitthatinitiatesair
baginflation.
Thefactthattheairbagsdidnot
inflateinacollisiondoesnotmean
thatsomethingiswrongwiththe
system.Rather,itmeanstheforces
werenotofthetypesufficientto
causeactivation.Sideairbagsare
designedtoinflateinsideĆimpact
collisions,notrollover,rearĆimpact,
frontalornearĆfrontalcollisions,
unlessthecollisioncauses
sufficientlateraldeceleration.
