prem ium gasoline will provid e no benefit over high
quality regu lar gasoline, and in som e circumstances may
resu lt in poorer perform ance.
ReformulatedGasoline
Many areas of the country requ ire the use of cleaner
burning gasoline referred to as Reform ulated Gasoline.
Reform ulated gasoline contains oxygenates, and is spe-
cifically blend ed to red uce vehicle emissions and im-
prove air quality.
Light spark knock at low engine speed s is not harm ful to
you r engine. However, continu ed heavy spark knock at
high speed s can cause damage and immediate service is
requ ired .
The manu factu rer strongly supports the use of reform u-
lated gasoline. Prop erly blend ed reform ulated gasoline
will provid e excellent perform ance and durability for the 5
engine and fuel system components.
Poor quality gasoline can cause problem s such as hard
starting, stalling and hesitations. If you experience these
sym ptom s, try another brand of gasoline before consid -
ering service for the vehicle.
Gasoline/OxygenateBlends
Some fuel suppliers blend unlead ed gasoline with oxy-
genates such as 10% ethanol, MTBE, and ETBE. Oxygen-
ates are requ ired in som e areas of the country during the
winter months to red uce carbon monoxid e emissions.
Fuels blend ed with these oxygenates may be used in
you r vehicle.
Over 40 auto manu factu rer’s world wide have issu ed and
end orsed consistent gasoline specifications (the World -
wide Fuel Charter, WWFC) to define fuel prop erties
necessary to deliver enhanced emissions, perform ance,
and durability for you r vehicle. The manu factu rer recom -
mend s the use of gasoline that meets the WWFC speci-
fications if they are available.
