system shou ld be drained , flushed and refilled with fresh
antifreeze/ coolant. Check the front of the A/ C cond enser
(if equ ipped) or rad iator for any accumulation of bugs,
leaves, etc. If dirty, clean by gently spraying water from a
gard en hose vertically down the face of the A/ C con-
denser (if equ ipped) or the back of the rad iator core.
CoolingSystem—Drain,Flush,AndRefill
At the intervals show n in the approp riate “Maintenance
Sched ule,” the system shou ld be drained , flushed , and
refilled .
If the solu tion is dirty and contains a consid erable
amount of sed iment, clean and flush with reliable cooling
system cleaner. Follow with a thorou gh rinsing to rem ove
all deposits and chem icals. Prop erly dispose of old
antifreeze/ coolant solu tion.
Check the engine cooling system hoses for brittle rubber,
cracking, tears, cuts, and tightness of the connection at
the coolant recovery bottle and rad iator. Insp ect the
entire system for leaks.
Discard old antifreeze/ coolant solu tion accord ing to rec-
ommend ed proced ure.
With the engine at norm al operating tem peratu re (but
not running), check the cooling system pressu re cap for
prop er vacu um sealing by draining a small amount of
antifreeze/ coolant from the rad iator drain cock. If the cap
is sealing prop erly, the antifreeze/ coolant will begin to
drain from the coolant recovery bottle. DO NOT RE-
MOVE THE COOLAN T PRESSURE CAP WHEN THE
COOLIN G SYSTEM IS HOT.
