other heavy-d uty use. See you r authorized dealer for

Fluidlevelshouldbecheckedonalevelsurfacewith
theengineofftopreventinjuryfrommovingparts,
and to insure accurate fluid level reading. Do not
overfill.Useonlythemanufacturer’srecommended
fluid.
BodyLubrication
Locks and all bod y pivot points, inclu ding such item s as
seat tracks, doors, tailgate and hood hinges, shou ld be
lubricated period ically to assu re quiet, easy operation
and to protect against rust and wear. Prior to the appli-
cation of any lubricant, the parts concerned shou ld be
wiped clean to rem ove dust and grit; after lubricating
excess oil and grease shou ld be rem oved . Particu lar
attention shou ld also be given to hood latching compo-
nents to insu re prop er function. When perform ing other
und erhood services, the hood latch, release mechanism
and safety catch shou ld be cleaned and lubricated .
If necessary, add fluid to restore to the prop er ind icated
level. With a clean cloth, wipe any spilled fluid from all
surfaces. Refer to Recom mend ed Fluids, Lubricants, and
Genu ine Parts for correct fluid typ e.
DrivelineAndSteeringComponentLubrication
U-joints (card an joints) are sealed and do not requ ire
lubrication. Prop shafts, yokes, ball joints and other
driveline and steering components may be provid ed with
grease fittings for lubrication. Lubrication of these com-
ponents at the intervals specified in the approp riate
