JUMPSTARTING
Set the parking brake, place an autom atic transm ission in
P (Park) (or N (Neutral) for a manu al transm ission). Turn
off lights, heater, and other electrical load s. Observe
charge ind icator in the battery. If ind icator is light or
yellow, rep lace the battery.
WARNING!
Topreventpersonalinjuryordamagetoclothing,do
not allow battery fluid to contact eyes, skin, or
fabrics.Donotleanoverabatterywhenconnecting
jumper cables or allow cable clamps to touch each
other.Keepopenflamesorsparksawayfrombattery
ventholes.Alwaysweareyeprotectionwhenwork-
ing with batteries. Do not use a booster battery or
any other booster source that has a greater than
CAUTION!
Use the “Jump Starting” procedure only when the
chargeindicatorisdarkinthecenter.Donotattempt
jump starting when the battery charge indicator is
brightoryellow.Ifthechargeindicatorisdarkand
has a green dot in the center, failure to start is not
duetoadischargedbatteryandthecrankingsystem
shouldbechecked.

becom es necessary to use a booster battery, with jumper
cables, to start the vehicle’s engine becau se it’s battery is
