Seating and Safety Restraints
Iftheairbaghasdeployed,theairbagwillnotfunction
againandmustbereplacedimmediately.Iftheairbagisnot
replaced,theunrepairedareawillincreasetheriskofinjuryina
collision.
TheSRSconsistsof:

driverandpassengerairbagmodules(whichincludetheinflatorsand
airbags),
•

oneormoreimpactandsafingsensors,
areadinesslightandtone
andtheelectricalwiringwhichconnectsthecomponents.
Thediagnosticmodulemonitorsitsowninternalcircuitsandthe
supplementalairbagelectricalsystemwiring(includingtheimpact
sensors),thesystemwiring,theairbagsystemreadinesslight,theairbag
backuppowerandtheairbagignitors.
Determining if the system is operational
TheSRSusesareadinesslightintheinstrumentclusteroratoneto
indicatetheconditionofthesystem.RefertoAirbagreadinesssection
intheInstrumentClusterchapter.Routinemaintenanceoftheairbagis
notrequired.
Adifficultywiththesystemisindicatedbyoneormoreofthefollowing:

Thereadinesslightwilleither
flashorstaylit.
Thereadinesslightwillnot
illuminateimmediatelyafter
ignitionisturnedon.

Aseriesoffivebeepswillbeheard.Thetonepatternwillrepeat
periodicallyuntiltheproblemand/orlightarerepaired.
Ifanyofthesethingshappen,evenintermittently,havetheSRSserviced
atyourauthorizeddealerimmediately.Unlessserviced,thesystemmay
notfunctionproperlyintheeventofacollision.
Disposal of airbags and airbag equipped vehicles
Seeyourlocalauthorizeddealer.AirbagsMUSTBEdisposedofby
qualifiedpersonnel.
