Thebrakingsystemofthetowvehicleisratedforoperationatthe
GVWRnotGCWR.
Integratedtrailerbrakecontroller(ifequipped)
YourvehiclemaybeequippedwithafullyintegratedelectronicTrailer
BrakeController(TBC).Whenusedproperly,theTBChelpsensure
smoothandeffectivetrailerbrakingbypoweringthetrailer’selectric
brakeswithaproportionaloutputbasedonthetowingvehicle’sbrake
pressure.
TheFordTBChasonlybeenverifiedtobecompatiblewithtrailers
havingelectric-actuateddrumbrakes(onetofouraxles)andnot
hydraulicsurgeorelectric-over-hydraulictypes.Itistheresponsibilityof
thecustomertoensurethatthetrailerbrakesareadjustedappropriately,
functioningnormallyandallelectricconnectionsareproperlymade.
TheTBCuserinterfaceconsistsof
thefollowing:

+/-(GAINadjustment
buttons):Pressingthesebuttons
willadjusttheTBC’spoweroutput
tothetrailerbrakes(in0.5
increments).TheGAINsettingcan
beincreasedtoamaximumof10.0
ordecreasedtoaminimumof0(no
trailerbraking).Pressingand
holdingabuttonwillraiseorlower
thesettingcontinuously.

Trailerconnectionindicator:Thislampindicatestrailerelectrical
connectionstatus.

Whenasuccessfultrailerconnectionisdetected,theindicatorwillbe
green.
Iftheelectricalconnectionislost,theindicatorwillflashred.Ifthe
connectionislostwhilethevehicleisstationary,theindicatorwillturn
offafter30seconds.Iftheconnectionislostwhilethevehicleis
moving,theindicatorwillflashuntiltheignitionisturnedoff,thenon
again.

Ifnoelectricalconnectionisdetectedaftertheignitionisturnedon,
pressingaGAINadjustmentbuttonwilldisplaytheGAINsetting.
SlidingthemanualcontrolwilldisplaytheGAINsetting,OUTPUTbar
graphandlightthetrailerindicatorred.
