Service Data Recording
Servicedatarecordersinyourvehiclearecapableofcollectingand
storingdiagnosticinformationaboutyourvehicle.Thispotentially
includesinformationabouttheperformanceorstatusofvarioussystems
andmodulesinthevehicle,suchasengine,throttle,steeringorbrake
systems.Inordertoproperlydiagnoseandserviceyourvehicle,Ford
MotorCompany,FordofCanada,FordMotorCompany,S.A.deC.V.and
serviceandrepairfacilitiesmayaccessvehiclediagnosticinformation
throughadirectconnectiontoyourvehiclewhendiagnosingorservicing
yourvehicle.
EventDataRecording
Othermodulesinyourvehicle—eventdatarecorders—arecapableof
collectingandstoringdataduringacrashornearcrashevent.The
recordedinformationmayassistintheinvestigationofsuchanevent.
Themodulesmayrecordinformationaboutboththevehicleandthe
occupants,potentiallyincludinginformationsuchas:

whetherornotthedriverandpassengerseatbeltswerebuckled;
howfar(ifatall)thedriverwasdepressingtheacceleratorand/orthe

Toaccessthisinformation,specialequipmentmustbedirectlyconnected

informationwithoutobtainingconsent,unlesspursuanttocourtorderor
whererequiredbylawenforcement,othergovernmentauthoritiesor
otherthirdpartiesactingwithlawfulauthority.Otherpartiesmayseekto
accesstheinformationindependentlyofFordMotorCompany,Fordof
CanadaandFordMotorCompany,S.A.deC.V.
