Using the clutch
Themanualtransmissionhasastarterinterlockthatpreventscranking
theengineunlesstheclutchpedalisfullydepressed.
Tostartthevehicle:
1.
Makesuretheparkingbrakeisfullyset.
2.
Presstheclutchpedaltothefloor,thenputthegearshiftleverinthe
neutralposition.
3.
Starttheengine,thenpressthebrakepedalandreleasetheparking
brake.
4.
Movethegearshiftleverto1(First)gear,thenslowlyreleasethe
clutchpedalwhileslowlypressingontheaccelerator.
Duringeachshift,theclutchpedalmustbefullydepressedtothefloor.
Failuretofullydepresstheclutchpedaltothefloormaycauseincreased
shiftefforts,prematurelyweartransmissioncomponentsordamagethe
transmission.Makesurethefloormatisproperlypositionedsoitdoesn’t
interferewiththefullextensionoftheclutchpedal.
Donotdrivewithyourfootrestingontheclutchpedalorusetheclutch
pedaltoholdyourvehicleatastandstillwhilewaitingonahill.These
actionswillreducethelifeoftheclutch.
Recommended shift speeds
Donotoverspeedtheenginewhengoingdownhillorsteepgrades.If
equipped,usethetachometeranddonotallowenginespeedtoexceed
theredlinearea.Operatingtheenginebeyondtherecommendedspeeds
cancausesevereenginedamage.
