refillingyourrearaxlewithsyntheticgearlubricantifnotalreadyso
equipped.RefertoLubricantSpecificationsintheMaintenance
andspecificationschapterfortheproperaxlelubricant.Remember
thatregardlessoftherearaxlelubricantused,donottowatrailerfor
thefirst500miles(800km)ofanewvehicle,andthatthefirst500
milesoftowingbedoneatnofasterthan70mph(112km/h)withno
full-throttlestarts.

Braking

Thetrailerbrakesmustbeinspectedandservicedatintervals
specifiedbythemanufacturer.Thisincludestheshoes,drumand
trailerbrakemagnets.

Electricbrakesalsorequireperiodicadjustmenttokeeptheshoes
properlyspaced.Ifthebrakesgethotwhendrivingoriftheywillnot
hold,chancesarethattheyneedadjustment.

Anticipatetheneedtostop;allowmuchmoredistanceandtimeto
stopthannormal.
Donotapplythetrailerbrakesforextendedperiodsoftimeasthey
canoverheatandloseeffectiveness.
