NOTE:
The Traction Control will make buzzing or
POWERSTEERING
clickingsoundswheninoperation.
Thestandardpowersteeringsystemwillgiveyougood
vehicle response and increased ease of maneuverability
in tight spaces. The system will provide mechanical
steeringcapabilityifpowerassistislost.
NOTE:
Extended heavy use of Traction Control may
causethesystemtodeactivateandturnontheTRACand
theOFFindicatorslocatedintheinstrumentcluster.
Ifforsomereasonthepowerassistisinterrupted,itwill
stillbepossibletosteeryourvehicle.Underthesecondi-
tions,youwillobserveasubstantialincreaseinsteering
effort, especially at very low vehicle speeds and during 5
parkingmaneuvers.
Thisistopreventoverheatingofthebrakesystemandis
anormalcondition.Thesystemwillremaindisabledfor
about4minutesuntilthebrakeshavecooled.Thesystem
willautomaticallyreactivateandturnofftheTRACand
theOFFindicators.
NOTE: Increasednoiselevelsattheendofthesteering
wheeltravelareconsiderednormalanddonotindicate
thatthereisaproblemwiththepowersteeringsystem.
Ifyourvehiclebecomesstuckinmud,ice,orsnow,turn
the Traction Control System OFF before attempting to
“rock”thevehiclefree.
Uponinitialstart-upincoldweather,thepowersteering
pumpmaymakenoiseforashortamountoftime.Thisis
due to the cold, thick fluid in the steering system. This
noiseshouldbeconsiderednormal,anddoesnotinany
waydamagethesteeringsystem.
