check tire pressure. Do not make a visual judgement
whendeterminingproperinflation.Radialtiresmaylook
properlyinflatedevenwhentheyareunderinflated.
Checktirepressuresmoreoftenifsubjecttoawiderange
of outdoor temperatures, as tire pressures vary with
temperaturechanges.
Tirepressureschangebyapproximately1psi(7kPa)per
12°F(7°C)ofairtemperaturechange.Keepthisinmind
whencheckingtirepressureinsideagarage,especiallyin
thewinter.
CAUTION!
After inspecting or adjusting the tire pressure, al-
waysreinstallthevalvestemcap(ifequipped).This
will prevent moisture and dirt from entering the
valvestem,whichcoulddamagethevalvestem.
Example: If garage temperature = 68° F (20° C) and the
outside temperature = 32° F (0° C) then the cold tire
inflationpressureshouldbeincreasedby3psi(21kPa),
whichequals1psi(7kPa)forevery12°F(7°C)forthis
outsidetemperaturecondition.
Inflation pressures specified on the placard are always
“coldtireinflationpressure.”Coldtireinflationpressure
is defined as the tire pressure after the vehicle has not
beendrivenforatleast3hours,ordrivenlessthan1mile
Tirepressuremayincreasefrom2to6psi(13to40kPa)
duringoperation.DONOTreducethisnormalpressure
builduporyourtirepressurewillbetoolow.

pressure must not exceed the maximum inflation pres-
suremoldedintothetiresidewall.
