Thefrontpassengerseatassemblycontainscriticalcom-
ponents that affect the front passenger airbag deploy-
ment.Correctlyfunctioningfrontpassengerseatcompo-
nentsarecriticalfortheOccupantClassificationSystem
(OCS)toproperlyclassifythefrontpassengerandcalcu-
late the proper airbag deployment. Do not make any
modifications to the front passenger seat components,
assembly,ortotheseatcover.

The Belt Tension Sensor (BTS) — If Equipped is
locatedattheoutboardpassengerlapbeltanchor.The
BTS generates a signal based on outboard lap belt
tension.ThissignalissenttotheOCMtoensurethat
theresultantbladderpressureincreaseduetoapplied
lapbelttensiondoesnotcauseasmalloccupanttobe
classifiedasalargeroccupant.
