Table:
Attemptingtotowloadsgreaterthanthosespecifiedisdangerousasitmaycause
serioushandlingandperformanceproblemsthatcouldresultinpersonalinjuryor
vehicledamage,orboth.
Loadyourtrailerwiththeweightabout60%towardthefrontand40%towardthe
rear:
Loadingthetrailerwithmoreweightintherearthaninthefrontisdangerous.Doing
socouldcauseyoutolosecontrol.Thetrailertongueloadmustbe10%―15%ofthe
totaltrailerload(sumoftheweightsofthetrailerandcargo).
Alwayshavethetotaltrailerweightandtongueloaddeterminedpriortodeparture:
Attemptingtotowloadswithoutdeterminingthetotaltrailerweightandtongueloadis
dangerous.Trailerswayfromcrosswinds,roughroadsorothercausescouldresultin
lossofcontrolandaseriousaccident.
CAUTION
Thetotaltrailerweightandtongueloadcanbedeterminedbyweighingthetraileron
platformscalesatahighwayweightstationoratruckingcompany.

Useonlyahitchballrecommendedbythetrailermanufacturerthatconformstothegross
trailerweightrequirement.
Whennottowingatrailer,removethetrailerhitch(ifdetachable)toreducethepossibility
ofdamageasaresultofthevehiclebeingrear-ended.
