Seatbeltshelptodecreasethepossibilityofsevereinjuryduringaccidentsandsudden
stops.Mazdarecommendsthatthedriverandallpassengersalwayswearseatbelts.
Alloftheseatbeltretractorsaredesignedtokeepthelap/shoulderbeltsoutoftheway
whennotinuse.
Thedriver'sseatbelthasnoprovisionsforchild-restraintsystemsandhasonlyan
emergencylockingmode.Thedrivermaywearitcomfortably,anditwilllockduringa
collision.
However,thefrontpassenger'sseatandallrearlap/shoulderbeltretractorsoperateintwo
modes:emergencylockingmode,andforchild-restraintsystems,automaticlockingmode.
Whilewerecommendyouputallchildrenintherearseats,ifyoumustusethefront
passengerseatforachild,slidethefrontpassengerseatasfarbackaspossibleandmake
sureanychild-restraintsystemissecuredproperly.
WARNING
Alwayswearyourseatbeltandmakesurealloccupantsareproperlyrestrained:
Notwearingaseatbeltisextremelydangerous.Duringacollision,occupantsnot
wearingseatbeltscouldhitsomeoneorthingsinsidethevehicleorevenbethrownout
ofthevehicle.Theycouldbeseriouslyinjuredorevenkilled.Inthesamecollision,
occupantswearingseatbeltswouldbemuchsafer.
Donotoperateavehiclewithadamagedseatbelt:
Usingadamagedseatbeltisdangerous.Anaccidentcoulddamagethebeltwebbing
oftheseatbeltinuse.Adamagedseatbeltcannotprovideadequateprotectionina
collision.Frontairbagsandpretensionersworktogether,regardlessofwhetherornot
afrontseatwasoccupiedduringacollision,orwhetherornotanyairbagandseat
beltpretensionerdeployedallfrontseatbeltsandairbagsmustbeinspectedand
replacedifnecessary.HaveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspectallseatbeltsystems
inuseduringanaccidentbeforetheyareusedagain.
Donotweartwistedseatbelts:
Twistedseatbeltsaredangerous.Inacollision,thefullwidthofthebeltisnot
availabletoabsorbtheimpact.Thisputsmoreforceonthebonesbeneaththebelt,
whichcouldcauseseriousinjuryordeath.
