Theairbagsupplementalrestraintsystemsaredesignedtoprovidesupplementalprotection
incertainsituationssoseatbeltsarealwaysimportantinthefollowingways:
Withoutseatbeltusage,theairbagscannotprovideadequateprotectionduringanaccident.
Seatbeltusageisnecessaryto:
Keeptheoccupantfrombeingthrownintoaninflatingairbag.

Reducethepossibilityofinjuriesduringanaccidentthatisnotdesignedforairbag
l
inflation,suchasrearimpact.
Reducethepossibilityofinjuriesinfrontal,nearfrontal,sidecollisionsorroll-over

accidentsthatarenotsevereenoughtoactivatetheairbags.
Reducethepossibilityofbeingthrownfromyourvehicle.

Reducethepossibilityofinjuriestolowerbodyandlegsduringanaccidentbecausethe

airbagsprovidenoprotectiontothesepartsofthebody.
Holdthedriverinapositionwhichallowsbettercontrolofthevehicle.

Yourvehicleisalsoequippedwithadriverandfrontpassengeroccupant
classificationsystem.Fordetails,refertothedriverandfrontpassengeroccupant
classificationsystem(page2-58).
Smallchildrenmustbeprotectedbyachild-restraintsystemasstipulatedbylawinevery
stateandprovince.Incertainstatesandprovinces,largerchildrenmustuseachild-restraint
system(page2-27).
Carefullyconsiderwhichchild-restraintsystemisnecessaryforyourchildandfollowthe
installationdirectionsinthisOwner'sManualaswellasthechild-restraintsystem
