Alwayswearyourseatbeltandmakesurealloccupantsareproperlyrestrained:
Notwearingaseatbeltisextremelydangerous.Duringacollision,occupantsnot
wearingseatbeltscouldhitsomeoneorthingsinsidethevehicleorevenbethrown
outofthevehicle.Theycouldbeseriouslyinjuredorevenkilled.Inthesame
collision,occupantswearingseatbeltswouldbemuchsafer.
Donotweartwistedseatbelts:
Twistedseatbeltsaredangerous.Inacollision,thefullwidthofthebeltisnot
availabletoabsorbtheimpact.Thisputsmoreforceonthebonesbeneaththebelt,
whichcouldcauseseriousinjuryordeath.
Neveruseoneseatbeltonmorethanonepersonatatime:
Usingoneseatbeltformorethanonepersonatatimeisdangerous.Aseatbelt
usedinthiswaycannotspreadtheimpactforcesproperlyandthetwopassengers
couldbecrushedtogetherandseriouslyinjuredorevenkilled.Neveruseonebeltfor
morethanonepersonatatimeandalwaysoperatethevehiclewitheachoccupant
properlyrestrained.
Donotoperateavehiclewithadamagedseatbelt:
Usingadamagedseatbeltisdangerous.Anaccidentcoulddamagethebelt
webbingoftheseatbeltinuse.Adamagedseatbeltcannotprovideadequate
protectioninacollision.HaveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspectallseatbelt
systemsinuseduringanaccidentbeforetheyareusedagain.
Haveyourseatbeltschangedimmediatelyifthepretensionerorloadlimiterhas
beenexpended:
Iftheairbagsdeploythecorrespondingpretensioner(s)mayalsodeployatthesame
time.Whileitissafertouseacrash-usedseatbeltthatwasusedinanaccidentthan
noseatbeltatall,usingaseatbeltwithanexpendedpretensionerorloadlimiter
loadedreducesthesafetyavailabletoyou.Liketheairbags,theseatbelt
pretensionerswillonlyfunctiononce.Aftertheyareexpended,theywillnotfunction
againandmustbereplacedimmediately.Iftheseatbeltpretensionersarenot
replaced,theriskofinjuryinacollisionwillincrease.AlwayshaveanAuthorized
MazdaDealerinspecttheseatbeltpretensionersandairbagsafteranycollision.
Expendedseatbeltpretensionersandairbagsmustbereplacedafteranycollision
whichcausedthemtodeploy.Additionally,theloadlimiterwillonlylimitloadson
thechestonceinacollisionandthisisanotherreasontohavetheseatbelts
inspected.
