offtheright-of-way.

Turnofftheengineandinspectthe
enginecoolantlevel(page8-13).Ifit's
low,addenginecoolant.
CAUTION
Don'truntheengineiftheoillevelis
low.Itcouldresultinextensive
enginedamage.

Checkthelight.
Ifthelightremainsilluminatedevenafter
youaddenginecoolant,haveyourvehicle
towedtoanAuthorizedMazdaDealer.
NOTE
TheMazdaRX-8requiresregularcheckingof
theengineoillevel.Thecompact,high
performanceRENESISrotaryengineinyour
vehicleconsumesasmallamountofengineoil
duetoitsstructuraldesign.Anoilpump
optimizestheamountofoilinjectedto
lubricatetherotorsealsinthecombustion
cycle.Althoughyourvehicleisequippedwith
anengineoillevelwarninglightandan
engineoilpressuregauge,itisbesttokeepthe
engineoillevelintherangebetweenfulland
lowbycheckingtheoildipstickregularly.
Mazdarecommendscheckingtheoillevelat
everysecondfuelfilling.Theoilconsumption
oftheenginedependsonenginespeedand
engineload.Underextremedrivingconditions,
oilconsumptioncanbehigher.
CAUTION
Don'truntheengineiftheengine
coolantlevelislow.Itcouldresultin
extensiveenginedamage.

Thisindicatorlightilluminateswhenthe
ignitionswitchisturnedtotheON
