Yourvehicleisequippedwiththefrontpassengerseatweightsensors(page2-27).These
sensorsarelocatedunderbothofthefrontpassengerseatrails.Thesesensorsdeterminethe
totalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseat.TheSASunitisdesignedtopreventthe
frontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersystemfromdeployingif
thetotalseatedweightislessthanapproximately30kg(66lb).
Toreducethechanceofinjuriescausedbydeploymentofthefrontpassengerairbag,the
systemdeactivatesthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandalsotheseatbelt
pretensionersystemwhen:
Thereisnopassengerinthefrontpassengerseat.(Thefrontpassengerairbag

deactivationindicatorlightdoesnotilluminate.)
Thetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseatislessthanapproximately30kg(66
l
lb).(Thefrontpassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminates.)
Thissystemshutsoffthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensioner
system,somakesurethefrontpassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminates
accordingtothefollowingtable.
Theairbag/frontseatbeltpretensionersystemwarninglightflashesandthefront
passengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminatesifthesensorshaveapossible
malfunction.Ifthishappens,thefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbelt
pretensionersystemwillnotdeploy.
Frontpassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlight
Thisindicatorlightilluminatestoremindyouthatthefrontpassengerfrontandsideair
bagsandseatbeltpretensionerwillnotdeployduringacollision.
Ifthefrontpassengerweightsensorsareworkingproperly,theindicatorlightilluminates
whentheignitionswitchisturnedtotheONposition.Afteraspecifiedperiodoftimeit
goesout.
