Donotdecreasethetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseat:
Whenanadultorlargechildsitsonthefrontpassengerseat,decreasingthetotal
seatedweightonthefrontpassengerseatfromthetotalseatedweightof
approximately42kg(93lb)requiredforairbagdeploymentisdangerous.Thefront
passengerseatweightsensorswilldetectthereducedtotalseatedweightcondition
andthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersystem
willnotdeployduringanaccident.Thefrontpassengerwillnothavethe
supplementaryprotectionoftheairbag,whichcouldresultinseriousinjury.
Decreasingthetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseatfromthetotalseated
weightofapproximately42kg(93lb)couldresultinanairbagnotdeployingunder
thefollowingconditions,forexample:
ØArearpassengerpushesuponthefrontpassengerseatwiththefeet.
ØLuggageorotheritemsplacedunderthefrontpassengerseatorbetweenthe
frontpassengerseatanddriverseatthatpushupthefrontpassengerseat
bottom.
ØThefrontpassengerseatoccupantsitsinamannerthatdoesnotplacetheentire
weightoftheoccupantontheseatsuchasbysittingtooclosetothedoor,
graspingtheassistgriportherimofthemoonroofandsittingwiththeseatback
reclinedtoofar.
ØAnyaccessorieswhichmightdecreasethetotalseatedweightonthefront
passengerseatareattachedtothefrontpassengerseat.
ØTensionintheupwarddirectionisplacedontheseatbeltslidebarsuchasby
pullingupontheseatbelt.
Thefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersystemswill
deactivateifthetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseatiscloseto30kg(66
lb)andtheywillreactivatebeforetheweightexceeds42kg(93lb).
