Haveyourseatbeltschangedimmediatelyifthepretensionerorloadlimiterhas
beenexpended:
Oneorbothfrontairbagsmaydeploy,andthecorrespondingpretensioner(s)may
alsodeployatthesametime.Whileitissafertouseacrash-usedseatbeltthatwas
usedinanaccidentthannoseatbeltatall,usingaseatbeltwithanexpended
pretensionerorloadlimiterloadedreducesthesafetyavailabletoyou.Liketheair
bags,theseatbeltpretensionerswillonlyfunctiononce.Aftertheyareexpended,
theywillnotfunctionagainandmustbereplacedimmediately.Iftheseatbelt
pretensionersarenotreplaced,theriskofinjuryinacollisionwillincrease.Always
haveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspecttheseatbeltpretensionersandairbags
afteranycollision.Expendedseatbeltpretensionersandairbagsmustbereplaced
afteranycollisionwhichcausedthemtodeploy.Additionally,theloadlimiterwill
onlylimitloadsonthechestonceinacollisionandthisisanotherreasontohavethe
frontseatbeltsinspected.
Makesuretheseatbeltisnotcaughtorpinchedinthedoor:
Wearingaseatbeltthatiscaughtorpinchedinthedoorisdangerous.Theseatbelt
couldbecomelooseandnotprovideadequateprotectioninasuddenstopor
collision.
Makesurenothingisplacedontheseatbeltslidebar:
Placingyourfootorotherobjectssuchasanumbrellaontheseatbeltslidebaris
dangerous.Thefrontseatbeltisbuiltintothereardoor,andthelowerpartofthe
seatbeltslidesforwardorbackwardalongtheseatbeltslidebarasthereardoor
opensorcloses.Iftheseatbeltsliderisblocked,theseatbeltcouldbeimproperly
positionedandwouldprovidelittleornoprotectioninacollision.
CAUTION
Beltretractionmaybecomedifficultifthebeltsandringsaresoiled,sotrytokeep
themclean.Formoredetailsaboutcleaningtheseatbelts,referto“Cleaningthe
Lap/ShoulderBeltWebbing”(page8-45).
