Loose Fuel Filler Cap Message
WARNING! (Continued)
Ifthevehiclediagnosticsystemdeterminesthatthefuel
filler cap is loose, improperly installed, or damaged, a
”gASCAP” message will display in the odometer or a
“Check Gascap” message will display in the Electronic
Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) (if equipped). If this
occurs,tightenthefuelfillercapproperlyandpressthe
TRIPODOMETERbuttontoturnoffthemessage.Ifthe
problemcontinues,themessagewillappearthenexttime
thevehicleisstarted.
Neveraddfueltothevehiclewhentheengineis
running.
A fire may result if gasoline is pumped into a
portablecontainerthatisinsideofavehicle.You
could be burned. Always place gas containers on
thegroundwhilefilling.
NOTE:

Tightenthegascapuntilyouheara“clicking”sound.
Aloose,improperlyinstalled,ordamagedfuelfillercapmay
alsoturnontheMIL.Referto“OnboardDiagnosticSystem”
in“MaintainingYourVehicle”forfurtherinformation.
This is an indication that the gas cap is tightened
properly.TheMILintheinstrumentclustermayturn
on if the gas cap is not secured properly. Make sure
that the gas cap is tightened each time the vehicle is   VEHICLE LOADING
refueled.
The load carrying capacity of your vehicle is shown on
the “Vehicle  Certification Label.”  This information
should be used for passenger and luggage loading as
indicated.
When the fuel nozzle “clicks” or shuts off, the fuel
tankisfull.
