STARTING AND OPERATING
AutoStick/ElectronicRangeSelect(ERS)–If
CityDriving
Equipped
Whenstoppedforshortperiodsoftime,shiftthetrans-
missionintoNEUTRALandincreaseengineidlespeed.
ByusingtheAutoStick/ElectronicRangeSelect(ERS)
mode and selecting a specific gear range, frequent HighwayDriving
shiftingcanbeavoided.Thehighestgearrangeshould     Reducespeed.
beselectedthatallowsforadequateperformance.For
AirConditioning
example, choose “4” if the desired speed can be
maintained. Choose “3” or “2” if needed to maintain
thedesiredspeed.
Turnofftemporarily.
RECREATIONAL TOWING (BEHIND
MOTORHOME, ETC.)
Extended driving at high RPM should be avoided to
preventexcessheatgeneration.Areductioninvehicle
speed may be required to avoid extended driving at
high RPM. Return to a higher gear range or vehicle
speedwhenroadconditionsandRPMlevelallows.
Two-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive
Recreationaltowing(withallfourwheelsontheground)
is allowed ONLY if the rear driveshaft is removed and
the transmission is in NEUTRAL (for both RWD and
AWDvehicles).

To reduce potential for engine and transmission over-
heating,takethefollowingactions:
