No objects should be placed over or near the
airbagontheinstrumentpanel,becauseanysuch
objects could cause harm if the vehicle is in a
collision severe enough to cause the airbag to
inflate.
Do not put anything on or around the airbag
coversorattempttoopenthemmanually.Youmay
damage the airbags and you could be injured
becausetheairbagsmaynolongerbefunctional.
The protective covers for the airbag cushions are
designedtoopenonlywhentheairbagsareinflat-
ing.

andSeatTrackPositionSensors
AdvancedFrontAirbagFeatures
TheAdvancedFrontAirbagsystemhasmultistagedriver
andfrontpassengerairbags.Thissystemprovidesoutput
appropriate to the severity and type of collision as
determinedbytheOccupantRestraintController(ORC),
which may receive information from the front impact
sensors.
Thefirststageinflatoristriggeredimmediatelyduringan
impact that requires airbag deployment. The timing of
thesecondstagedetermineswhethertheoutputforceis
low,medium,orhigh.Ifalowoutputissufficienttomeet
theneed,theremaininggasintheinflatorisexpended.

anyway.
