Whentheengineisrunning,makesurethatlooseclothing,jewelryor
longhairdoesnotgetcaughtinmovingparts.

Donotworkonavehiclewiththeenginerunninginanenclosed
space,unlessyouaresureyouhaveenoughventilation.
Keepallopenflamesandotherburning(cigarettes)materialaway
fromthebatteryandallfuelrelatedparts.
Ifyoudisconnectthebattery,theenginemust“relearn”itsidlecondition
beforeyourvehiclewilldriveproperly,asexplainedinBatteryinthis
section.
Working with the engine  off

Forvehiclesequippedwithanautomatictransmission,settheparking
brakeandshifttoP(Park).Forvehiclesequippedwithamanual
transmission,settheparkingbrake,pressandholdtheclutchpedal,
placethegearshiftin1(First),andreleasetheclutchpedal.

Turnofftheengineandremovethekey.
