TheenginecoolantshouldbeattheFULLCOLDlevelorwithinthe
COLDFILLRANGEaslistedontheenginecoolantreservoir
(dependinguponapplication).
Refertoscheduledmaintenanceinformationforserviceinterval
schedules.
Iftheenginecoolanthasnotbeencheckedattherecommendedinterval,
theenginecoolantreservoirmaybecomeloworempty.Ifthereservoiris
loworempty,addenginecoolanttothereservoir.RefertoAdding
enginecoolantinthischapter.
Note:Automotivefluidsarenotinterchangeable;donotuseengine
coolant/antifreezeorwindshieldwasherfluidoutsideofitsspecified
functionandvehiclelocation.
Adding engine coolant
Whenaddingcoolant,makesureitisa50/50mixtureofenginecoolant
anddistilledwater.Addthemixturetothecoolantreservoir,whenthe
engineiscool,untiltheappropriatefilllevelisobtained.Ifcoolantis
filledtotheCOLDFILLRANGEorFULLCOLDlevelwhentheengineis
notcool,thesystemwillremainunderfilled.
WARNING:Donotaddenginecoolantwhentheengineishot.
Steamandscaldingliquidsreleasedfromahotcoolingsystem
canburnyoubadly.Also,youcanbeburnedifyouspillcoolantonhot
engineparts.
WARNING:Donotputenginecoolantinthewindshieldwasher
fluidcontainer.Ifsprayedonthewindshield,enginecoolant
couldmakeitdifficulttoseethroughthewindshield.

DONOTMIXdifferentcolorsortypesofcoolantinyourvehicle.
Makesurethecorrectcoolantisused.DONOTMIXrecycledcoolant
