Determining if the system is operational
TheSRSusesareadinesslightintheinstrumentclusteroratoneto
indicatetheconditionofthesystem.Refertothe Air bag readin ess
sectioninthe Instr umen tation chapter.Routinemaintenanceoftheair
bagisnotrequired.
Adifficultywiththesystemisindicatedbyoneormoreofthefollowing:

Thereadinesslightwilleither
flashorstaylit.
Thereadinesslightwillnot
illuminateimmediatelyafter
ignitionisturnedon.

Aseriesoffivebeepswillbeheard.Thetonepatternwillrepeat
periodicallyuntiltheproblemandlightarerepaired.
Ifanyofthesethingshappen,evenintermittently,havetheSRSserviced
atyourdealershiporbyaqualifiedtechnicianimmediately.Unless
serviced,thesystemmaynotfunctionproperlyintheeventofa
collision.
Side air bag system (if equipped)
Donotuseaccessoryseatcovers.Theuseofaccessoryseat
coversmaypreventthedeploymentofthesideairbagsand
increasetheriskofinjuryinanaccident.
Donotleanyourheadonthedoor,thesideairbagcouldinjure
youasitdeploysfromthesideoftheseatback.
Donotattempttoservice,repair,ormodifytheairbag
SupplementalRestraintSystem,itsfusesortheseatcoverona
