Seating and safety restraints
Iftheshoulderbeltportionofacombinationlapandshoulderbeltcan
bepositionedsoitdoesnotcrossorrestinfrontofthechild’sfaceor
neck,thechildshouldwearthelapandshoulderbelt.Movingthechild
closertothecenterofthevehiclemayhelpprovideagoodshoulderbelt
fit.
Donotleavechildren,unreliableadults,orpetsunattendedin
yourvehicle.
Toimprovethefitoflapandshoulderbeltsonchildrenwhohave
outgrownchildsafetyseats,Fordrecommendsuseofabelt-positioning
boosterseatthatislabelledasconformingtoallFederalmotorvehicle
safetystandards.Belt-positioningboosterseatsraisethechildand
provideashorter,firmerseatingcushionthatencouragessaferseating
postureandbetterfitoflapandshoulderbeltsonthechild.
Abelt-positioningboostershouldbeusediftheshoulderbeltrestsin
frontofthechild’sfaceorneck,orifthelapbeltdoesnotfitsnuglyon
boththighs,orifthethighsaretooshorttoletthechildsitalltheway
backontheseatcushionwhenthelowerlegshangovertheedgeofthe
seatcushion.Youmaywishtodiscussthespecialneedsofyourchild
withyourpediatrician.

Useasafetyseatthatisrecommendedforthesizeandweightofthe
child.Carefullyfollowallofthemanufacturer’sinstructionswiththe
safetyseatyouputinyourvehicle.Ifyoudonotinstallandusethe
safetyseatproperly,thechildmaybeinjuredinasuddenstopor
collision.
