areaofthetrail.Donotreducethetirepressuresbutshifttoalower
gearanddrivesteadilythroughtheterrain.Applytheacceleratorslowly
andavoidspinningthewheels.
Mud and water
Ifyoumustdrivethroughhighwater,driveslowly.Tractionorbrake
capabilitymaybelimited.
Whendrivingthroughwater,determinethedepth;avoidwaterhigher
thanthebottomofthehubs(ifpossible)andproceedslowly.Ifthe
ignitionsystemgetswet,thevehiclemaystall.
Oncethroughwater,alwaystrythebrakes.Wetbrakesdonotstopthe
vehicleaseffectivelyasdrybrakes.Dryingcanbeimprovedbymoving
yourvehicleslowlywhileapplyinglightpressureonthebrakepedal.
Afterdrivingthroughmud,cleanoffresiduestucktorotatingdriveshafts,
halfshaftsandtires.Excessmudstuckontiresandrotatingdriveshafts
causesanimbalancethatcoulddamagedrivecomponents.
Ifthetransmission,transfercaseorfrontaxlearesubmergedinwater,
theirfluidsshouldbecheckedandchanged,ifnecessary.
