How does the side air bag system work?

seatbacks.

allowairbagdeployment.
Thesamewarninglight,
electroniccontrolanddiagnostic
unitasusedforthefrontair
bags.

Twocrashsensorslocatedunder
theoutboardsideofthefront
seats,attachedtothefloor.
Sideairbags,incombinationwith
seatbelts,canhelpreducetherisk
ofsevereinjuriesintheeventofa
significantsideimpactcollision.
Thesideairbagsarefittedontheoutboardsideoftheseatbacksofthe
frontseats.Incertainlateralcollisions,theairbagonthesideaffected
bythecollisionwillbeinflated,eveniftherespectiveseatisnot
occupied.Theairbagwasdesignedtoinflatebetweenthedoorpanel
andoccupanttofurtherenhancetheprotectionprovidedoccupantsin
sideimpactcollisions.
TheairbagSRSisdesignedtoactivatewhenthevehiclesustains
sufficientlateraldecelerationsufficienttocausethesensorstoclosean
electricalcircuitthatinitiatesairbaginflation.
