When stu ck in mud, sand , snow, or ice cond itions, do not
spin you r vehicle’s wheels above 35 mph (55 km/ h).
Tread wear ind icators are in the original equ ipment tires
to help you in determ ining when you r tires shou ld be
rep laced .

WARNING!
Fast spinning tires can be dangerous. Forces gener-
atedbyexcessivewheelspeedsmaycausetiredam-
age or failure. A tire could explode and injure
someone. Do not spin your vehicle’s wheels faster
than 35 mph (55 km/h) when you are stuck. And
don’t let anyone near a spinning wheel, no matter
whatthespeed.
These ind icators are molded into the bottom of the tread
grooves and will appear as band s when the tread depth
becom es 1/ 16 inch (2 mm). When the tread is worn to the
tread wear ind icators, the tire shou ld be rep laced .
Many states have law s requ iring tire rep lacem ent at this
point.
