Ifthevehiclesdiagnosticsystemdeterminesthatthefuel
filler cap in loose, improperly installed, or damaged, a
“gASCAP”messagewillbedisplayedintheinstrument
cluster. Tighten the gas cap until a “clicking” sound is
heard.Thisisanindicationthatthegascapisproperly
tightened.Pressthetripodometerresetbuttontoturnoff
the message. If the problem persists, the message will
appear the next time the vehicle is started. This might
indicateadamagedcap.Iftheproblemisdetectedtwice
inarow,thesystemwillturnontheMIL.Resolvingthe
problemwillturntheMILoff.

Neveraddfuelwhentheengineisrunning.Thisis
in violation of most state and federal fire regula-
tionsanddoingsowillcausetheMILtoturnon.
A fire may result if gasoline is pumped into a
portablecontainerthatisinsideofavehicle.You
could be burned. Always place gas containers on
thegroundwhilefilling.

properly.TheMILintheinstrumentclustermayturn VEHICLE LOADING
on if the gas cap is not secured properly. Make sure
that the gas cap is tightened each time the vehicle is
refueled.
