light in the switch will be illuminated. HDC will auto-

whennecessary.HDChasthecapabilitytosenseterrain
andwillonlyactivatewhenthevehicleisdescendinga
hill.Itwillusuallynotactivateonlevelground.

HDCalsohasthecapabilitytosenseroughterrain,and
will automatically adjust to a slightly slower set speed
[about0.3mph(0.5km/h)thannormal.]
PARK=HDCwillnotfunction
TheHDCspeedmaybeadjustedbythedrivertosuitthe
driving conditions. The speed corresponds to the trans-
missiongearselected.
HDCoperationcanbeoverriddenwithbrakeapplication
toslowthevehicledownbelowtheHDCcontrolspeed.
Conversely,ifmorespeedisdesiredduringHDCcontrol,
the accelerator pedal will increase vehicle speed in the
usualmanner.Wheneitherthebrakeortheacceleratoris
released,HDCwillcontrolthevehiclebacktotheorigi-
nalsetspeed.
