thebrakeliningswear.However,anunexpecteddropin
fluidlevelmaybecausedbyaleakandasystemcheck
shouldbeconducted.

Riding the brakes can lead to brake failure and
possiblyanaccident.Drivingwithyourfootresting
orridingonthebrakepedalcanresultinabnormally
highbraketemperatures,excessiveliningwear,and
possiblebrakedamage.Youwouldnothaveyourfull
brakingcapacityinanemergency.

FluidLevelCheck—BrakeMasterCylinder
Thefluidlevelofthemastercylindershouldbechecked
when performing under the hood service, or immedi-
atelyifthebrakesystemwarninglampindicatessystem
failure.

Parts” in “Maintaining Your Vehicle” for further
information.Usingthewrongtypeofbrakefluid
can severely damage your brake system and/or
impairitsperformance.Thepropertypeofbrake
fluidforyourvehicleisalsolabeledontheorigi-
nal factory installed hydraulic master cylinder
reservoir.
The brake master cylinder has a translucent plastic
reservoir.Ontheoutboardsideofthereservoir,thereisa
“MAX” dot and a “MIN” dot. The fluid level must be
keptwithinthesetwodots.Donotaddfluidabovethe
MAXmark,becauseleakagemayoccuratthecap.
